We only discovered Kiwitaxi a day before we were due to leave our hotel in Luxor for the airport. We didn't want to pay the hotel's elevated rates for transfer, or get into endless haggling with the taxi drivers outside. Kiwitaxi.com let us know that they received our request and were searching for a driver. They confirmed the transfer a short while later. At 7am next morning our driver Hussein was waiting for us outside the hotel with a big sign with our name. Hussein was friendly and courteous. His car was new and very clean. He helped us with our luggage. We paid partly by credit card when booking, and the rest in cash in US$ to Hussein. This was an excellent service!

This route is popular among both tourists and the locals of Egypt, and is operated by many types of public transport. Buses and tourist shuttles are the good option for those who are travelling alone or with a friend, for young people, who feel familiar with the country and speak its language as well as for those who would like to reduce the costs of their holiday.

Buses and shuttles vs. other types of public transport

The cheapest variant. Moneywise, a bus ride is either equal to other types of public transport (for example, suburban train), or 5–15% cheaper than any of these options.
